Chapter 4

1)When therefore the LORD knew how the Pharisees had heard that Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John,

2)(ThoughThey Jesussought himselfmore baptizeddiligently notsome means that they might put him to death; for many received John as a prophet, but histhey disciples,)believed not on Jesus.

3)HeNow the Lord knew this, though he himself baptized not so many as his disciples;

4)For he suffered them for an example, preferring one another.

5)And he left JudaeaJudea, and departed again into Galilee.,

46)And hesaid unto his disciples, I must needs go through Samaria.

57)Then he cometh he to athe city of Samaria, which is called Sychar, near to the parcel of ground thatwhich Jacob gave to his son Joseph. 6)Now; the place where Jacob's well was there.

8)Now Jesus therefore, being weariedweary with his journey, sat thus on the well: and it wasbeing about the sixth hour., sat down on the well;

79)ThereAnd comeththere came a woman of Samaria to draw water:; Jesus saithsaid unto her, Give me to drink.

810)(ForNow his disciples were gone away untointo the city to buy meat.)

911)ThenWherefore saithhe being alone, the woman of Samaria said unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, whichwho am a woman of Samaria? for theThe Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans.

1012)Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink;, thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.

1113)The woman saithsaid unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep:; from whence then hast thou that living water?

1214)Art thou greater than our father Jacob, whichwho gave us the wellwill, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle?

1315)Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinkethshall drink of this waterwell, shall thirst again:;

1416)But whosoever drinketh of the water thatwhich I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

1517)The woman saithsaid unto him, Sir, give me of this water, that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw.

1618)Jesus saithsaid unto her, Go, call thy husband, and come hither.

1719)The woman answered and said, I have no husband. Jesus said unto her, Thou hast well said, I have no husband:.

1820)For thou hast had five husbands;, and he whom thou now hast, is not thy husband:; in that saidst thou truly.

1921)The woman saithsaid unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet.

2022)Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.

2123)Jesus saithsaid unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father.

2224)Ye worship ye know not what:; we know what we worship:; forand salvation is of the Jews.

2325)ButAnd the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippersworshipers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth:; for the Father seeketh such to worship him.

2426)For unto such hath God ispromised ahis Spirit:. andAnd they thatwho worship him, must worship him in spirit and in truth.

2527)The woman saithsaid unto him, I know that Messias cometh, whichwho is called Christ:; when he is come, he will tell us all things.

2628)Jesus saithsaid unto her, I thatwho speak unto thee am hethe Messias.

2729)And upon this came his disciples, and marvelledmarveled that he talked with the woman:; yet no man said, What seekest thou? or, Why talkest thou with her?

2830)The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way into the city, and saithsaid to the men,

2931)Come, see a man, whichwho told me all things that I have ever Idone. did: isIs not this the Christ?

3032)Then they went out of the city, and came unto him.

3133)In the mean whiletime his disciples prayed him, saying, Master, eat.

3234)But he said unto them, I have meat to eat that ye know not of.

3335)Therefore said the disciples one to another, Hath any man brought him oughtmeat to eat?

3436)Jesus saithsaid unto them, My meat is to do the will of him thatwho sent me, and to finish his work.

3537)Say not ye, Therethere are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? beholdBehold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.

3638)And he thatwho reapeth, receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal:; that both he thatwho soweth, and he thatwho reapeth, may rejoice together.

3739)And herein is that saying true, One soweth, and another reapeth.

3840)I have sent you to reap that whereon ye bestowed no labour:labor; otherthe menprophets labouredhave labored, and ye arehave entered into their labourslabors.

3941)And many of the Samaritans of that city believed on him for the saying of the woman, whichwho testified, saying, He told me all that I have ever I diddone.

4042)So when the Samaritans were come unto him, they besought him that he would tarry with them:; and he abode there two days.

4143)And many more believed because of his own word;

4244)And said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy saying: for; we have heard himfor ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the SaviourSavior of the world.

4345)Now after two days he departed thence, and went into Galilee.

4446)For Jesus himself testified, that a prophet hath no honourhonor in his own country.

4547)Then when he washad come into Galilee, the GalilaeansGalileans received him, having seen all the things thatwhich he did at Jerusalem at the feast:; for they also went unto the feast.

4648)So Jesus came again into Cana of Galilee, where he made the water wine. And there was a certain nobleman, whose son was sick at Capernaum.

4749)When he heard that Jesus was come out of JudaeaJudea into Galilee, he went unto him, and besought him that he would come down, and heal his son:; for he was at the point of death.

4850)Then said Jesus unto him, Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe.

4951)The nobleman saithsaid unto him, Sir, come down erebefore my child die.

5052)Jesus saithsaid unto him, Go thy way;, thy son liveth. And the man believed the word thatwhich Jesus had spoken unto him, and he went his way.

5153)And as he was now going down to his house, his servants met him, and told himspake, saying, Thy son liveth.

5254)Then enquiredinquired he of them the hour when he began to amendmend. And they said unto him, Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him.

5355)So the father knew that ithis son was athealed in the same hour, in the which Jesus said unto him, Thy son liveth:; and himself believed, and his whole house.;

5456)This is againbeing the second miracle thatwhich Jesus did,had done when he washad come out of JudaeaJudea into Galilee.
